How would you like to help us help you out? Your observation period's up and I want you on this particular assignment. You'll be fine, you're probably not going to die, and we'll be able to monitor you from here. We need help. You've got the skills needed even if you don't know it yet. I know it and that's what counts.
You'll be working with a group (wish I could give you the names, still putting the lists together), but your assignment partner is Mao Yata. Should you choose to accept this assignment, you will need to meet at Peach Beach tomorrow morning and we'll go from there.
You'll be rewarded for your success, of course, but this is only if we have an agreement. Do we have an agreement?
[No other messages will be sent from this account at this time.]
[ooc: Hello! You've been sorted into group 1. Your event log will go up at 9pm EST along with all of the other logs. We encourage you to read the main event log as well for more information about your recruiter and this note. In the meantime, head on over to this thread on the latest mod post to meet your teammates! Thank you!]
Why not lunch *and* coffee? Let's go all out! That would be great though, since I miss seeing you! Breaks during school aren't long enough to catch up and feel like we're actually spending time together, you know?
that's the best idea! let's do it! I think Hinata's doing something else so it's just you and me today but maybe he'll join us later... it totally sucks though right? I see you guys all the time but it's always short and just like "hi! bye!" and it feels really stupid I don't have anywhere special in mind, no. wanna just go to the good bean and we'll figure it out from there?
It's always fun to spend time as a group, but sometimes it's nice to hang out one on one I've been pretty busy since coming back, but I think I'm just about caught up with everything, so we should be able to see each other more soon! If now is good for you, I'll head on over
This is so pretty!!! I love how the the gradient looks so distant compared to the impasto flowers, and the dark branches are the perfect contrast But you also know how much I love impasto in general!
now sounds perfect! I miss you :( you have to update me on everything about your adventures out there and stuff what do you want to drink? I'll put in the orders and stuff since I'm close by
Just recently, yes. It was something I did for fun, but ... it felt appropriate given the season. I did an impasto piece for some of my coursework recently, and it turned out much better than I had expected.
Would your parents be willing to let me display it in the shop for sale, do you think? I can bring it round, for display and so you can look at it if you like.
Even if we've been texting, I miss seeing you in person too I'll tell you everything! And you have to update me on your memories and stuff too, okay? Ummm then how about whatever latte you think sounds best? I'm not too picky
Yeah, it's perfect! Have you done much impasto before this? I can always pick out your style, no matter how different your art can be from piece to piece
You're kidding, right? Of course we'll put it up! Right up in front where everyone can see! I'm sure it'll go really fast, too I definitely want to look at it in person before someone takes it!
Only really that piece, and one other. Aside from a couple of much smaller practice doodles... Thank you though. That is quite the compliment to receive.
I will make sure you're able to look it over before I put it in the window.
Really, I'm being totally honest! It makes me want to do an impasto piece now
It's been a while since I put something up, since I never really wanted to sell any of my work But my parents put my stuff up years and years ago just for display since they were proud It's like putting your kid's work on the fridge except they displayed it on the walls of the shop
You should! There are many things to consider, but it makes for an interesting experience.
You could put it up as a draw for the shop. We know we don't have to sell what's on display... The fact your parents are so proud of what you do, I'm sure they'd want to display the things you paint now.
I usually use acrylics and thickening gel for mine, but I haven't even done that in a while since I've just been doing standard acrylics and watercolor But I should really just use oil paint and be more patient about letting it dry I can't help it! It takes sooooo looooooooooong
You think so? I've always been shy about my own stuff, but if I do something I'm really proud of, I'll consider it We should definitely put yours up, though!
Ah... I have been neglecting watercolour. I should do another painting of it, before I forget how to use them properly. Oil paints are good if you are in the position to walk away from it completely for a while... it helps resist the temptation to keep checking it is dry.
I will put up my painting if you put up one of yours. How is that for a deal?
Tsukasa's been doing gansai watercolor and it's made me want to start using them instead of my normal watercolor paints! It's both an easy and difficult medium, but I really love it
Ughhhh thin oil paint is fine, like for normal paintings and stuff But what if you touch your impasto after like a month and it isn't completely dry? Flattening it with your finger or like poking it with the other end of a paintbrush and puncturing it to the wet paint underneath would ruin everything I'm worried that I'd be more conscious of the thickness of the paint than the actual painting, and no one wants that Give me my artistic freedom!!!
Okay! I'll have to do something equally nice, but I'll take you up on that!
[As promised, Rise will be at the Good Bean before Izumi and she's ordering a caramel latte and a vanilla latte. She'll let him choose when he gets here and she's quick to put stoppers into the cups as she wanders through the cafe to find a table. Luckily she's not waiting too long before the door opens and she spots someone very familiar.]
Izumi! [She lifts an arm and waves it to bring him over. It's probably more animate than people are used to with her but family is always different.]
[There's something so pleasing about walking into a coffee shop, but more than the aroma of coffee and the cozy atmosphere, Izumi's the most excited to see Rise. Given that it's the weekend, he's wearing his casual clothes and has his hair pulled up, piercings on full display as he cheerfully waves back.]
Sorry if I made you wait! You haven't been here too long, have you?
No way, don't worry about it! [Despite the things weighing on her mind, she's bubbling and pleased while she moves to use her foot to push his chair out a little so he can sit.] I was already pretty close by anyway and I beat most of the crowd. [She nods to the queue of people waiting for their drinks.]
[Grinning broadly, Izumi pulls the chair out the rest of the way before taking a seat across from Rise.]
I'm glad you were! Instant gratification is way better than waiting in line.
[He wasn't kidding when he said that he isn't picky, but he probably should have mentioned beforehand that caramel is pretty much the only flavour he doesn't like.... oops.]
So how've you been? Oh, and I'll take vanilla, if that's okay with you.
